College Costs

There is more to the cost of college than simply your tuition and fees.  It can also include indirect costs not paid directly to the college, but necessary for your education such as books and supplies.

The estimated Cost of Attendance (COA) may vary from student to student based on factors such as your residency, course load, and living situation.

If you have filed your FAFSA, the college will subtract your Student Aid Index (SAI) from your COA to determine your financial aid.

If you are due a refund, the Business Office notify you once processed.

Tuition is calculated based on the number of semester credit hours which the student registers. It is determined by the student’s classification as a Texas resident, a non-resident U.S. citizen or a nonresident who is a citizen of another country. Students also are responsible for paying several fees that support college services and programs. The tuition rate varies based upon the residency status of a student.

Enrollment status will be reviewed on the official census date at the beginning of each term to determine the appropriate enrollment category: full-time, three quarter-time or half-time. If your total enrollment does not meet the minimum requirements for full-time enrollment, your cost of attendance will be adjusted based on your total enrollment on the census date for the term. The adjustment of the cost of attendance may result in the return or cancellation of aid.

Official census dates:

  • 12th class day for the fall and spring terms
  • 4th class day summer of second part of term, for those students attending the entire summer term

Students whose aid adjustment results in a balance owed to the college must repay the entire balance or make payment arrangements within 14 working days of the occurrence. Failure to do so may result in the student being reported to the U.S. Department as owing a refund to the Title IV programs and render the student ineligible until the balance is settled.
